## How to Transfer Investments After the Investor's Death on Wefunder
If you are settling an estate and need to transfer investments held on Wefunder, follow these steps:
1. **Provide Required Documentation**
- Submit a copy of the *death certificate* of the original investor.
- Provide *signed and sealed court documents* such as a probate decree or similar legal proof that you are the rightful beneficiary or estate representative authorized to manage these investments.
2. **Create a Wefunder Account for the Beneficiary**
- The new owner or beneficiary must create their own Wefunder account if they do not already have one. This account will receive the transferred investments.

3. **Verification and Transfer Process**
- Wefunder will confirm your investments and identify the type of subscription agreement (Custodian, SPV, or Direct) for each.
- For investments managed through Wefunder-controlled agreements (Custodian or SPV), Wefunder will coordinate and prepare the necessary transfer contract documents for e-signature.
- For direct agreements with companies (e.g., investments made through Wefunder's platform but not controlled by Wefunder), Wefunder will facilitate contact with the founders or company representatives for you to coordinate the transfer.
4. **Finalizing the Transfer**
- After the companies execute their part of the contract transfer, Wefunder will update its records and merge the accounts accordingly.
- Original contract signatures remain on file, but company records will be updated to reflect the new ownership.
5. **Ongoing Communication**
- Wefunder will keep you informed throughout the process and notify you of any additional actions required on your part.
