2FA codes
Not receiving your 2FA code? We can help you figure this out.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. We can send verification codes via text (SMS) or email, whichever you choose during setup.
## Getting SMS codes
If you're not getting SMS codes to your phone, try these things in order:
1. **Double-check your phone number:** Make sure you entered it correctly and included your country code (like +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, etc.). Even a small typo will stop the code from reaching you.
2. **Wait a minute or two before requesting again:** If you requested multiple codes in quick succession, carriers sometimes delay them to filter out spam. Just be patient and request again after a couple minutes.
3. **Try a different network:** Restart your phone and try switching between WiFi and mobile data. Some network setups can block SMS from short codes, and switching connections can fix it.
Still no luck? Let us know and we'll help troubleshoot with you!
## Getting email codes
If you set up 2FA through email and aren't receiving codes, here's what usually helps:
1. **Check the right inbox:** The code gets sent to the email address attached to your account. Make sure you're looking in the correct mailbox.
2. **Peek in spam and junk:** Sometimes 2FA emails get caught by filters. Search your spam, junk, promotions, or other folders.
3. **Search for "Wefunder":** Use that search term to find the email in case it landed somewhere unexpected.
4. **Wait and try again:** Like SMS, email can take a minute or two to arrive. Wait a bit, then request the code again.
If you're using Apple Sign-In, your email might be a hidden address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. Check that specific inbox too.
## Still stuck?
If you've tried everything above and the code still isn't showing up, reach out with these details and we'll dig deeper:
- What 2FA method you're using (text or email)
- Your country
- Any error messages you see on screen
This info helps us troubleshoot without you having to share sensitive stuff.
