Understanding the admin / service fee
When you invest on Wefunder you may see a fee in addition to your investment amount. Here's what it covers. For the full breakdown, see "Wefunder investor fees."
## What the fee covers
It helps cover processing your investment and — for investments made through an SPV or fund — the ongoing administration of that entity: maintaining the LLC, preparing tax documents, and handling filings and recordkeeping over the life of the investment.
## When it applies
Fees vary by investment type and structure. The exact fee is shown during checkout before you confirm, so you always see it before completing an investment.
## "The founder doesn't want to pay the admin fee" — what that means
In some deals a founder or lead covers certain administrative costs; in others they're shared or passed through. A change to a fee arrangement refers to who bears the administrative cost of the investment vehicle — it doesn't change the investment you made.
## Can a fee be waived?
