Verifying your accreditation status
## How to Verify Your Accredited Investor Status
An accredited investor meets specific income, net worth, or professional licensing requirements set by the SEC. To invest without limits on Wefunder, you just need to verify your accredited status in the app.
### Who Qualifies as an Accredited Investor
You're accredited if any of these apply:
**For Individuals:**
- Income over $200,000 per year for the last two years (with expectation to maintain)
- Income over $300,000 per year for the last two years if filing jointly with a spouse
- Net worth exceeding $1 million (excluding primary residence)
- You hold investment professional licenses like Series 7, Series 65, or Series 82 and are in good standing
**For Entities:**
- Entity owns investments valued at over $5 million
- Entity is a corporation, partnership, LLC, trust, 501(c)(3) organization, employee benefit plan, family office, or family client with assets exceeding $5 million
- All of your entity's equity owners individually qualify as accredited investors
### How to Verify Your Accreditation
It's easy:
1. Log into your Wefunder account
2. Go to account settings and click "Investor Limits"
3. Select "Yes" for accredited status
4. Answer the questions to confirm your information
5. Click "Save"—you're all set!
Note: You'll need to update your accreditation status every five years.
