Closing your round

## Everything you need to know about ending your round When you close your round, you're officially ending the fundraising period. If you decide you want to end your campaign early, please always contact the Closing team using closing@wefunder.com. After your close date, no new investors can invest. But the work isn't done. Then there's the final four weeks from close date to final withdrawal when you have exactly four weeks to lock in your final disbursement amount. ## Setting your close date Before we dive into what happens after you close, let's talk about the decision itself. **When can you close?** You have up to 120 days after the end of your fiscal year to set your close date. For most companies with a December 31st fiscal year end, that means you can close anytime up until April 30th. Why this 120-day window? This aligns with SEC regulations and your financial disclosure requirements. **What if you want to extend beyond that?** You can, but you'll need to prepare and disclose new financials. Our Account Management team can help walk you through this process. **Can you close early?** Yes. Whether you've hit your goal or want to wind things down and try again at a later date, you can close before your original deadline. Just let the Closing team know immediately using closing@wefunder.com. **Why pick a specific close date in the first place?** Some founders close after hitting their target. Others set a specific deadline from the start to create urgency. Either way, it's your decision. The main point is: Reach out to the Wefunder Closing team or your Wefunder representative to coordinate your campaign's official close date. ## What happens on your close date When your round officially closes: - No new investments are accepted after this point - You'll see a snapshot of all your funds on the directory page: what's "ready" and what's still "pending" - Your four-week final withdrawal window begins - Wefunder's automated investor communications kick in **You do not need to contact anyone at Wefunder to close your campaign. All investor notifications during closing are sent automatically. Only step in if an investor has questions or wants to opt out.** ## The four-week "final withdrawal" window After you close, you have exactly four weeks. Here's how it works: #### Weeks 1-3: The "pending" investments grace period During the first three weeks, Wefunder automatically sends weekly reminders to investors whose funds are still pending (they haven't completed verification, made their payment, etc.). These reminders explain what's needed and create gentle urgency. **Your role:** You can (and should) reach out personally to pending investors. A message from you is usually more powerful. Let them know they're close to locking in their investment and encourage them to complete whatever's needed. If an investor is confused about why they're pending, point them to their portfolio page where they can see the status of their investment. For detailed explanations of each type of pending status, see [Understanding 'pending' investments](https://hc.usefini.com/hc/t6vc02j1gl/articles/understanding-pending-investments). #### Week 4: Final deadline By the end of week four, it's decision time: - Any investments still in the "pending" or "no payment" stages get automatically cancelled (their funds don't come to you) - All "ready" funds are locked in - Your final wire transfer is processed on Friday - Funds hit your bank account within 1-2 business days Once week 4 is complete, your round is officially closed with a final tally. ## Your action items (weeks 1-4) Here's what you should focus on during the four-week window: 1. **Review your pending investor list.** Know who's still pending and why. Check your portfolio page or reach out to your Wefunder contact if you need clarity. 2. **Reach out personally to pending investors.** A personal message from the founder goes a long way. Especially in weeks 3-4, remind them about the approaching deadline. 3. **Stay responsive.** If investors have questions during closing, be available. Answer what you can, and direct them to support@wefunder.com for questions you can't solve. Keep closing@wefunder.com for your questions about closing and withdrawals. 4. **Keep expectations clear.** The four weeks is the hard deadline. ## After week 4 Once the four weeks are up: - Your final disbursement has been sent - Any pending investors who didn't complete their action items or send payment are cancelled - Your round is officially closed with its final total - Your fundraising period is complete ## Common questions **Can I extend my close date even after I've set one?** Usually, yes. Reach out to your Wefunder contact to discuss your options. **What if I want to do another round later?** That's a separate round with its own Form C filing. We can talk about timing once your current round is complete. **Confused about why investors are pending?** See [Understanding 'pending' investments](https://hc.usefini.com/hc/t6vc02j1gl/articles/understanding-pending-investments) **Need help with investor communication during closing?** Check out [Communicating with your investors during closing](https://hc.usefini.com/hc/t6vc02j1gl/articles/communicating-with-your-investors-during-closing) **Who should I contact at Wefunder for help with closing my campaign?** You can contact the Closing team at closing@wefunder.com. They can help if you decide to close early or if you have questions about closing. Have questions? Reach out to closing@wefunder.com. We're here to help.
