"Final" withdrawal overview
## What's a "final" withdrawal?
The final withdrawal is the last chance to pull funds from your closed round. After your round closes, you have about four weeks to lock in any remaining capital through the final withdrawal. Once those four weeks are up, any investors still pending or in "no payment" status get cancelled.
It's different from rolling withdrawals, because this is a one-time deadline, not an ongoing option.
## When does the final withdrawal happen?
The final withdrawal window is typically **four weeks from the week your round closed**. Here's the standard process:
- **Weeks 1-3:** We send weekly reminders to pending investors with action items and encourage them to address pending requirements before the final withdrawal date.
- **Week 4:** This is your final week. By the end of week 4, any investors still pending or in "no payment" get cancelled, and your final wire transfer is sent.
## What investors get included in the final withdrawal?
Only "ready" funds from investors get included in the final. Here's what happens by status:
- **"Ready" funds:** ✅ Included in your final withdrawal
- **"Pending" funds:** ❌ Will be cancelled if they don't address their particular blocker(s) in time
- **"No payment" funds:** ❌ Will be cancelled
The weekly reminders we send to investors are designed to get them to complete whatever's blocking them (KYC, verification, payment, etc.). If they do, they move to "ready" and get included. If they don't take care of any blockers by the end of the final week, their investment is canceled. These "blockers" are typically things like identity verification (KYC), proving you're accredited to invest, or payment issues. The good news is your investors get weekly reminders to sort these things out. If they don't, their investment automatically gets cancelled and any money paid for their investment is refunded to them.
## Can I do anything to get more investors across the finish line?
Yes! While we send weekly reminders, you should also check the pending investor list and reach out directly to your investors:
- Let them know they're close to getting their investment locked in
- Explain what's holding them up and what they need to do
- Give them a deadline (week 4, basically)
The more proactive you are, the more likely you are to get investors to the "ready" column.
## What actually happens on week 4?
Week 4 is go time. Here's the sequence:
- Any remaining "pending" or "no payment" investors get automatically cancelled
- We trigger your final wire transfer for all "ready" funds on your scheduled withdrawal date
- The wire lands in your account within 1-2 business days
Clean and simple.
## How to request your final withdrawal
There's no need to request your final withdrawal. We'll automatically schedule it and you'll see your status update as it moves through each stage.
If you have questions or need help reaching your pending investors, reach out to closing@wefunder.com.
## What if I want to do a final withdrawal before week 4?
If you want to do a final withdrawal early, before week 4, you can send a special request for a early final withdrawal anytime after your close date, but it's very important that you let us know you'd like it to be your final withdrawal. So email us at closing@wefunder.com with your request to close early. But honestly, waiting until the final week makes sense because you get approx. four weeks to chase down those pending investors.
