Understanding the investment timeline

When you commit to an investment on Wefunder, you're kicking off a process that takes your money from your bank account all the way to the company's bank account, and gets your contract signed. It's not instant - There are a few stages along the way. The great thing is, we've crafted a simple but detailed Portfolio page that breaks down your investments into three sections. Think of them as chapters in your investment story. To get to your Portfolio page, go to: **https://wefunder.com/portfolio** ## 1. Needs Action This is where investments live when there's a box you need to check or info you need to provide before things can move forward. It's mostly just the stuff we need to verify you're actually you, and to understand your financial situation so we can make sure everything's above board. The kind of requests that might show up here: - Confirming your identity - Sharing your tax ID - Telling us your income and net worth or setting your investment limits It's like filling out a form at your bank, except we tell you exactly what we need and why. Once you knock these out, your investment moves to the next stage. So don't sleep on these! They're the things actually stopping your money from getting sent over. ## 2. In Progress Your investment is on its way, and this is where the magic happens. But magic takes time, and there are actually a few smaller stages happening here. Here's the journey your investment takes while it's "In Progress": - **Fundraise launched**: The company's round is live and accepting commitments. - **Commitment received**: Your commitment is locked in. You've said "yes, I'm doing this," and Wefunder's got it recorded. - **Payment received**: Your funds hit Wefunder's account. We're holding onto it for you while we get all the paperwork lined up. - **Fundraise closes**: The company's round is done. No more commitments coming in. Time to finalize things. - **Investment finalizes**: Everything's been signed, sealed, and delivered. The subscription agreement is fully executed by everyone involved, and your funds are about to (or already have) moved to the company's account. You'll see these stages play out in your portfolio. Some happen fast, some take a bit longer depending on what's going on with the company and the legal stuff. That's normal. ## 3. Portfolio Investments These are your confirmed investments. The company has the money, the contracts are signed, and everything's locked in. This is the permanent record of you being an investor. Investments here are done and now it's about tracking the value of what you own. Check back here to see updates on how your investments are doing, and to keep track of what you've got. **Bottom line**: Your investments flow through these stages every time. Not all of them take the same amount of time, and sometimes there are things you need to do to keep things moving. But once you understand where things are and what happens next, it's pretty straightforward!
