Can't create an account — your email or SSN is already in our system
## Why this happens
Each person can have only one Wefunder account. If your Social Security Number (SSN) or email address is already on file — often under an email you used previously — the system won't let you create a second, duplicate account.
## How to regain access
**If you may still have access to the original email:**
Reply and let us know any email addresses you might have used with Wefunder in the past, so we can look up the account(s) and help you log back in.
**If you no longer have access to that email:**
We can walk you through account recovery and move access to your current email. Please provide:
- Your full legal name
- The residential address on the existing account
- The original email associated with the account
- The new email you'd like to use
We'll verify your identity before making any changes. For security, we may also ask for the last 4 digits of the SSN on file.
