## How to Verify Your Identity on Wefunder To protect everyone on the platform, we need to verify your identity. It's a quick process and we'll guide you through it. Here's how to get started: 1. Log into your Wefunder account and go to your account settings 2. Click "Investor Limits" 3. Click the "Verify" button to start the identity verification process ### Your Verification Options You can verify your identity one of two ways. We recommend the document upload option for the fastest processing time, but SSN verification works great too. **Option 1: Uploading an ID Document (Recommended)** Upload a photo of your ID. Your best options are a valid passport or visa. The document needs to be currently valid (not expired). You'll typically be verified within one business day. **Option 2: Using Your Social Security Number (SSN)** Enter your SSN exactly as it's recorded legally. If your information matches our records, you'll be verified in about 30 seconds. However, keep in mind that occasionally the system can't locate your ID and we will ask you to re-try using the 'Document Upload' option. ### Getting Your Photo Right Make sure your photo is: - Clear (not blurry) and free of glare - Showing the entire document with all four corners visible - Clearly showing your date of birth and the expiration date of the ID ### If Your Verification Is Rejected If your verification gets rejected, we'll always tell you why. Here are some common reasons we see: - **System couldn't verify your SSN** – Double-check that you entered it exactly as it appears on your official documents - **You used a P.O. box for your address** – We need your residential address, not a P.O. box - **Your name is incomplete** – Make sure you're using your full legal name, not a nickname or initials - **You submitted a business name instead of a personal name** – We need your account to use a personal name for individual verification Once you fix the issue, just try again.
