Email Outreach Templates & Examples.

Notes:

Tailor these templates heavily – to your own company, mission, and tone! Also tailor it to who you are sending it to. For example, if you’re sending it to your former boss who is a super busy CEO, you probably want to send a much much shorter email. If you’re sending it to your retired aunt and uncle, they might have a lot more time to read a longer one.

If you haven’t filed your legal work yet, be sure to include the disclosures in red. The bit with the asterisks (*Our raise is currently… ) doesn’t need to be written exactly such but we do recommend explaining your use of “reservation” instead of “investment.” Also be sure to abide by these advertising guidelines.

Subject: Ready… set… LAUNCH!

Hey [NAME]

Our Wefunder round is officially live! Whether you join us or not, if you’re reading this – we want to thank you. We haven’t forgotten how you’ve helped us before… and we are eternally grateful.

Let’s go Team [COMPANY NAME]

Make our day and visit our pitch page here: [WEFUNDER LINK]

Here are 4 ways you can help. I would be so grateful!

1. Share on social media. Facebook and LinkedIn are especially valuable. Here's an example post that you could share:

"Super excited that my friend Jonny is running an investment crowdfunding round for his dope business [COMPANY NAME]. This isn't Kickstarter -- the platform he’s using lets anyone invest in companies they believe in – and hopefully earn a return by participating in their growth.

He’s harnessing the power of his community in a big way and I’m so here for it – this is how founders should be building companies. Check out his Wefunder raise here:

wefunder.com/jonnysjuices"

2. Follow our raise. Click the "Remind Me" button near the top right of my Wefunder page. (This subscribes you to email updates on the raise, and helps build my momentum on the Wefunder site).

3. Connect me to 1 or 2 people. Anyone you think might be interested in investing a larger amount in the campaign (e.g. $5,000 or more), or are well-connected in the [INDUSTRY] space.

4. Give me any feedback on the raise in general. Let me know if anything on the pitch page that is unclear or any additions I could include to make it more clear or compelling to potential investors. Also feel free to share any ideas on how I could continue to spread the word about the round!

Thanks so much – I appreciate it!

Subject: Jonny's Juice's Wefunder round is live!

Hey Justin,

Hope things are good with you man! Was awesome to see you in San Diego a few weeks back -- we need to head out on the boat again soon :)

I'm writing to let you know that this week I am launching my investment crowdfunding round for Jonny's Juices, and I would love for you to *reserve your spot as an investor in the company.

*Our raise is currently in “testing the waters” mode while we finalize our paperwork and SEC filings, so you’ll only be making a reservation – not actually investing yet. Once we file everything in the coming weeks, you’ll be able to confirm your investment.

---

When most people hear "crowdfunding", they think of Kickstarter -- which is basically a donation. But I am running my round through Wefunder -- the platform lets friends, family, customers and community members invest in companies they believe in with investments as small as $100.

Over time, I will work as hard as I can to ensure that this company is a success, and you (and the other hundreds of investors) make a financial return on your investment.

I am really excited about the growth that Jonny's Juices has seen over the last few months -- we got some awesome press coverage in the SF Chronicle in July, and we just expanded our distribution into 20 new Whole Foods stores in northern California. And we have even more exciting plans for continuing to ramp up our growth in the coming 12 months.

Rather than sharing the fruits of that growth, and our labor, with a small group of millionaire investors, I am running a Wefunder round to allow friends and family like you to participate in this journey with us, and benefit from our success. The great thing about Wefunder is that it allows anyone to become an angel investor in our company.

I would love your support to kick the raise off with a bang -- Wefunder's data shows that a strong start is incredibly important for a successful round.

You can read more about Jonny's Juices, the terms of the offering, and our investor perks (which I think you will love!) at our Wefunder round here:

wefunder.com/jonnysjuices

If you want to talk more about our company, or the Wefunder investment opportunity, I would be happy to chat -- feel free to call me any time at ##, or email me with specific questions.

You have always been a true friend and supporter to me in my career. It would be an honor to have you as an investor in Jonny's Juices as well. Thanks so much for your consideration.

Lastly -- if you're not able to invest financially, you can still support me with the raise in one of four ways:

1. Share on social media -- Facebook and LinkedIn are especially valuable.

2. Follow our Wefunder round -- click the "Remind Me" button near the top right of my Wefunder page. (This subscribes you to email updates on the round, and helps build my momentum on the Wefunder site).

3. Connect me to 1 or 2 people who you think might be interested in investing a larger amount in the round (e.g. $5,000 or more), or are well-connected in the food and beverage space.

4. Give me any feedback you might have on my pitch -- anything that is unclear, additional things I could add to make it clearer or more compelling to potential investors, ideas you have for how I could promote the raise as widely as possible.

Some necessary disclosures:

1. No money or other consideration is being solicited. If sent, it will not be accepted;

2. No offer to buy securities will be accepted and o part of the purchase price will be received until a Form C is filed and only through Wefunder’s platform

3. Any indication of interest involves no obligation or commitment of any kind.

Hope to see you soon -- you're the best!

Follow-up email template

Hi [Name]

I'm following up on an email I sent you last week about reserving your spot as an investor in [Company Name]. We're raising money in this way so that we can have a different type of company - one that is built by the community, fans, and customers that believe in what we offer, not one that is funded by faceless banks and venture capital funds.  If [Company Name] does well, you will do well with us.

I'm asking that if you do plan to *reserve your spot as an investor, you do so this week, so that we can hit our goal of $20,000 raised by the 20th. Early momentum is extremely important in crowdfunding round - if you reserve now, you are helping us raise our goal exponentially more than if you reserve later.

*Our raise is currently in “testing the waters” mode while we finalize our paperwork and SEC filings, so you’ll only be making a reservation – not actually investing yet. Once we file everything in the coming weeks, you’ll be able to confirm your investment.

If you have any questions about the investment or company, I'm always available.

Some necessary disclosures:

1. No money or other consideration is being solicited. If sent, it will not be accepted;

2. No offer to buy securities will be accepted and o part of the purchase price will be received until a Form C is filed and only through Wefunder’s platform

3. Any indication of interest involves no obligation or commitment of any kind.

Mid-round outreach email example

Dear [Investor Name]

I wanted to reach out to let you know that we’re off to a great start with our Wefunder round. We’ve received over $55K in *reservations in just the first week.

If you haven’t had the chance to watch our pitch video, we invite you to take a look. We had a great time shooting at our greenhouse, with our team, and with advisors, produce buyers, and chefs who had a lot to say about our products

As always, I’m available to answer questions about the company, our raise, and our growth plan.

Thanks again and we look forward to growing with you.

Invitation to an Event Email

Dear [Investor Name]

I’m extending a special invite to you for a “We’re Funded Party!” - a celebratory bash we’re offering as a ‘thank you’ to the Wefunder donors who helped us raise over $160,000 already. You’re invited to party because YOU RULE! In different ways, you’ve all helped us become what it is today.

At the event, we’ll be taking a look back at what we accomplished in 2018 and what we’ll do together in 2019! There will be beer and some light appetizers - plus, while we grub, I’ll give you the low-down on our 2019 plans and we’ll have some fun activities to collect your ideas/feedback!

[Location]

[RSVP here]

Cheers,

Sample blogpost about why you’re running the raise:

Dear friends,

We are [Names] -- the proud co-founders of [Company]. We started this company coming out of the Great Recession in 2009, born out of a passion for kombucha, and a desire to revitalize the local economy of our hometown. We spent the last of our savings and IRA to start this business, and have been hustling hard to grow it ever since. Our sector -- kombucha beer -- is growing rapidly, our product is incredible, and our team is world class. We are excited about our future.

We are raising investment funds to capitalize on the opportunity in front of us. We could raise this money from institutional investors, or millionaires and billionaires. But we want to raise it from you -- the customers and community who have supported us on every step of our journey. Just as we started this company, in part, to stimulate our local economy and create jobs, we want to offer ordinary people here (and throughout the country) to benefit from the wealth that our growth creates.

We are not asking for a donation here. This is not Kickstarter. We are inviting you to be *investors in [Company]. As we grow the company, you make a financial return on your investment.

If you have any questions or feedback, we would love to hear from you.

Together, let's build a world class brand that's owned by We, the People.

1. No money or other consideration is being solicited. If sent, it will not be accepted;

2. No offer to buy securities will be accepted and o part of the purchase price will be received until a Form C is filed and only through Wefunder’s platform

3. Any indication of interest involves no obligation or commitment of any kind.
